Restaurants: Touchless Payments for Carryout

Apr 3, 2020 2:58:37 PM

While we are flat in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, our payments related inquiries have changed a bit. More companies are looking for ways to accept payments and donations and either eliminating or reducing the normal methods in which they typically accept payments.

One such use case has been restaurants who have been forced to carryout and delivery business models. It's not to say that there isn't a way for the payments to be accepted. Rather, just how much time it takes to do so. Online orders can certainly eliminate a restaurant physically handling the payments, but there's a number of customers for any given restaurant that simply haven't deviated from their normal procedure of call the restaurant and placing an order.

If we take a carryout scenario for what is more typically a sit-down restaurant and who is now having to make their way through carryout orders placed over the phone, a lot of time can be spent with the employee going back and forth from the car to inside the restaurant in taking care of the payment and presenting the food order.

Situations like this have been leading to a new influx of touchless payment related inquiries. One solution that we can provide is SMS Payments

sms-paymentsBy integrating to the restaurant's POS software, we are able to call data objects within the POS application and deliver them to a restaurant's customer vi and SMS message. The SMS message can contain whatever copy the restaurant chooses (up to ~160 characters) and would also include a clickable link that renders a payment form on the customer's mobile device. The customer enters their payment information and submits, then the payment is posted back to the POS system to let the restaurant know that the order has been paid for.

The mobile device payment forms can be branded with the restaurant's information and logo and can also reside on a subdomain of the restaurant's website url.

Along with providing the payment processing, the SMS system can be configured for additional messaging. The type of messaging is really only confined by your imagination (and legalities).

If you're a restaurant that is looking for a touchless payment solution, get in touch with us at Agile Payments and let us hear your unique needs. We'll do our best to come up with a solution that works for you.
