Making Payments Smart and Familiar At The Same Time

By Agile Payments News on Apr 17, 2015 12:14:14 PM

The problem with the mobile revolution is that it has been “coming” for so long without ever actually fully arriving that the idea of eminent ignition has become somewhat easy to discount. Mobile has been technologically accessible to a mass number of Americans for almost a decade, merchants are starting to come around (or be swept along as EMV upgrades often come part and parcel with NFC capabilities) and big name players like Google, Apple, PayPal and Samsung are staking out their space and going after the emerging mobile market.

Bank of America’s Mobile Deposit Volume Booms 30%

By Agile Payments on Apr 17, 2015 10:00:21 AM

Bank of America might be lagging some of its competitors in mobile banking user growth, but the bank is increasing its remote deposit business at an enviable rate.

The bank said yesterday that 13% of its deposits last quarter — or roughly $4.5 billion of a total $34.2 billion of new deposits last quarter, by our calculation — came through RDC. That percentage is 30% higher than in the same quarter a year ago. By comparison, BAC increased its mobile users about 18% during that period.

The increase in RDC volume was enough for Brian Moynihan, Bank of America’s CEO, to point to it yesterday during the BAC earnings call as one reason why the bank’s “expenses were managed tightly” during the quarter. Non-interest expense at Bank of America declined from the fourth quarter of 2014 as a result of the bank reducing the number of its financial centers and “the associated cost driven by consumer behavior patterns shifting to more digital,” he said. The shift in question is the one to RDC for deposit making.

Startup Spending

By Agile Payments News on Apr 13, 2015 8:35:35 AM

It’s easier than one would think for tech companies to overspend at the initial startup stage. Bright minds who dream of unlimited possibilities can cause things to go south in a hurry. Millions of dollars can be wasted in the blink of an eye. A lot of what happened to in the Internet Bubble years lurks just around the corner. Staffing the company with “big hitters” from outside companies and paying them exuberant salaries could be the quicksand of today’s tech market.

Customer early warning systems

By Gene Krause on Mar 26, 2015 8:00:14 AM

Amanda Saunders reminds marketers how important it is to put an early warning system in place to put out potential fires that might result from ignoring your customer’s needs. Every customer need unmet is a threat to a potential up-sell. Data-driven alerts permit you to become far more proactive in managing your customers. Your customer-facing team is valuable, but their feedback can sometimes be anecdotal and predictable.

Where employees spend their time on the Web

By Gene Krause on Mar 23, 2015 8:15:30 AM

At a glance, Liam McIvor Martin has provided the world with some critical information about how and where employees spend their time on the Web. Keep in mind that the keyword is ‘employees’. What it may indicate is that the most used website (Google Docs) and the most used app (Skype) are tools that people use to communicate fast and effectively. They’re also free, and that’s good. These are tools that are not likely to be replaced because they’re basic without all the bells and whistles that can distract a person.
